Hi there. My name is Sarah Butler (also known as essbee).

I am a passionate marketer with many years’ experience delivering B2C and B2B marketing and communications in Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

A member of the Australian Marketing Institute, I also have a Bachelor of Applied Management (Sales & Marketing) as well as a Diploma in Management, Diploma in Business, Certificate in Banking, and Certificate in Travel & Tourism. I have won awards from The Institute of Management, Society of Accountants, and Bankers Institute.

Most recently I received Best Marketing in the North Queensland Excellence in Tourism & Events Awards and researched, strategised and wrote a submission that directly led Lasseters Hotel Casino to be awarded ‘Best Deluxe Accommodation in Australia’ at the national Qantas Tourism Awards

But don’t worry, it’s not a case of all book smarts and no street smarts. 15 Years spent working on the mean corporate streets of the UK, Australia and New Zealand have honed real-world, effective, and proven marketing and communication skills.

I have worked in marketing management roles for international businesses including Kathmandu where I won a number of awards from the Australian Catalogue Association, Virgin Records in London, a national lifestyle magazine 'homestyle', and a tertiary education institute in Christchurch, New Zealand with over 20,000 pupils where I was responsible for a multi-million-dollar budget and defining the branding and advertising strategies.

Unfortunately, it was there where I became adept in crisis management, working remotely, and moving swiftly to re-craft strategies when Christchurch suffered the catastrophic earthquakes of February 2011.

I have led the marketing function at two different integrated resort-casinos in Australia including Jupiters owned by The Star Entertainment Group (Sydney, Brisbane and Gold Coast) where I drove a rebrand to The Ville Resort-Casino as ownership changed to The Colonial Leisure Group (also owners of Orpheus Island, Nautilus Aviation, Mt Mulligan Luxury Lodge.) Plus customer loyalty programs, the launch of restaurants and function spaces, creation of new revenue streams through the leveraging of sponsorships and events, digital media strategies, and managed strategic & tactical marketing, public relations and revenue-generating activities while the properties were in the midst of a massive redevelopment.

Now based in Cairns, I have worked with a cruise ship company Coral Expeditions to develop their domestic and international sales and public relations functions.

I also headed the marketing and communications for Sunlover Reef Cruises, one of the largest operators on the Great Barrier Reef taking 100,000 visitors to the reef annually. It was here also that I created stories that featured internationally in publications such as The Washington Post and hosted the BBC Blue Planet film crew.

Your location or mine is no obstacle to engaging my services, whether your preference is digital communication, or when it is once again possible to do so, I am always happy to travel to meet with my clients, seeking a reprieve from the hair-frizzing humidity of the tropics.
