When managing a meagre marketing budget, the AVE not only makes up for paid advertising it delivers legitimacy, and engaging content for social channels, newsletters, and the website with the additional benefit of improving SEO.

I have the ability to identify stories and create written and visual content for media distribution and use in owned assets such as websites and newsletters.

In 2019 I set up a reporting and communications hub at Sunlover’s Moore Reef pontoon for two nights where I had assembled a team of six marine biologists and filmmakers to photograph, video and report on the annual coral spawning event.

Prior, I wrote and distributed an alert notifying media that each night at 2am a Dropbox link would be uploaded with video, photos and an activity report that they could download and use in news broadcasts.

The professional communications were supported with social media posts and Facebook Live video that captured the team’s excitement, observations, and raw images.

Further reach and engagement were achieved through the team’s own social and media channels using a list of social tags and key messages that I supplied.

The content was picked up by major global news agencies JIJI Japan, AAP Australia, and AFP Europe as well as digital and print media in Australia, China, Japan, India, Germany, France, and the US including The Washington Post, and the UK including The Guardian resulting in hundreds of thousands in AVE.

Capitalising on the 'slow news' vacuum of the holiday period, leveraging Pantone's annual colour of the year to bring a good news story about the Great Barrier Reef and brand attention to Sunlover Reef Cruises.
